In February 2008, Keith and Jennifer Butler formed a charitable organization called “Operation: Race for Freedom”. The Butler’s wanted to utilize the great exposure that their racing team generates to benefit a cause that they feel so strongly about.  This cause is our United States Service Members stationed overseas.  Through this program, the KJ Motorsports team collects and distributes items needed by our service members in Iraq, Afghanistan and other posts across the world.  These items include razors, deodorant, shampoo, baby wipes, gum and baby powder.  KJ Motorsports collects items at their race trailer in the pit area and the racetracks set out a collection site at their grandstand and pit area ticket booths.  In addition to the items collected, the fans and supporters of the program donate money to defray the costs of shipping the items over to the troops.  Another key component of this program is to have it benefit the friends and families of the people who are contributing.  During the promotion and collection phase of the program, the contributors are asked to provide overseas addresses of their family and friends who are stationed across the world.

Most Children grow up with sports centered on popular pastimes such as football and baseball. Keith Butler, though, went down a completely different path when he strapped himself into his Go-Kart at the age of seven. He never looked back.
Keith is no stranger to racing. The Butlers’ racing “roots” were long
planted with Keith’s great-grandfather ‘Pop’ Butler, a well known Tampa
Racecar owner. Using car numbers reflecting his age, ‘Pop’ Butler fielded cars for numerous drivers, including his grandson Stan Butler (Keith’s father). The enthusiasm and drive of this racing family and its history has ignited the next generation of racing Butlers.
From the age of seven to fifteen, Keith focused his attention on Go-
Karts, running at tracks throughout Central Florida. At fifteen, he turned his attention to the next level when he entered three-quarter (TQ) midget racing. In his first year, he excelled by finishing second in the Florida Midget Racing Association (FMRA) and third in the Central Florida Midget Racing Association (CFMRA).
In 1992, Keith’s next focus came with his move into Sprint Cars. Racing on both dirt and pavement surfaces for the Tampa Bay Area Racing Association (TBARA), Keith was given the opportunity to hone his skills and abilities in communicating and implementing proper setup techniques. Demonstrating a natural winning ability, it was no wonder the TBARA awarded Keith “Rookie of the Year.”
His winning talents not only garnered him honors in the TBARA, but has led to numerous employment prospects and development opportunities. For instance, in 1997, Keith accepted a position as a crew-member with Holbrook Motorsports on the All-Star Champions series. From his communication with other drivers, Keith gained valuable insight about chassis setups and with close relationship with car owner Junior Holbrook, for which he drove the USAC Silver Crown Champ Car for the 1999 season. Furthermore, this relationship furnished Keith with different track experiences, including Indianapolis Raceway Park, Nazareth Speedway, Gateway International Speedway, Walt Disney World
Speedway and Memphis Motorsports Park.
Some of Keith’s strengths lie in his ability to ‘understand’ a racecar
and the business of running a successful team. In 2000, Keith and his wife, Jennifer, founded KJ Motorsports to have a better control over the quality of racecars Keith drives on a weekly basis. With a strong knowledge of chassis design and fabrication, mechanical physics and shock dynamics, Keith built and raced his own chassis design with much success.  Since 2000, Keith has over 23 wins, 145 top tens and over 97 top five finishes.  He has not finished outside of the top 5 in his primary series points and in 2008 captured the Checkered Flag Sprint Series Owners and Drivers Championships.
Although he is a fierce competitor on the track, Keith acknowledges the importance of giving back to a sport that has given him chances to succeed.  With the support of many throughout his career, it comes to no surprise that the role of mentor comes naturally to Keith.  Through his involvement with the local United Way, Shriners Hospital for Children events in Tampa and Operation: Race for Freedom, Keith has demonstrated a willingness to help others and give effort and awareness to certain causes he holds dear.  This is only rivaled by his determination on the track.
Since the age of seven, Keith has secured recognition for the variety
of racing accomplishments even appearing on the covers of Open Wheel
Magazine and other motorsports magazines. With his heart and determined spirit, Keith’s potential is limitless and no one can make an error in pronouncing it. In summary, Keith does not just stop at the finish line, but crosses it.
